For the State Dinner, Dr. Jill Biden Selected a Classic American Label

President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden’s first state dinner since relocating to the White House in 2021 will be attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte tonight. Among the few hundred individuals there were singer Jon Batiste, musician John Legend, chef Chrissy Teigen, and actor Julia Louis-Dreyfus. According to Biden, the dinner would honour “our common values: liberty and democracy, equality and camaraderie” as well as the flags of both countries by using the colours red, white, and blue. Biden and Macron, the first ladies, wore outfits that emphasised the evening’s theme.
In a blue column gown by Oscar de la Renta with long sleeves, an off-the-shoulder neckline, and a botanical lace pattern that revealed a lingerie-like interior beneath, Dr. Jill Biden made her choice. Biden has a history of promoting the upcoming generation of American designers, and she frequently wears Adam Lippes and Markarian. She also wore Markarian for the inauguration. By choosing Oscar de la Renta, which is currently led by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, she continued this tendency. Brigitte Macron donned an abstract white turtleneck dress with silver details, along with silver jewellery and a silver belt. Both presidents dressed in classic black tuxedos for the occasion.
