The daring cutout trend was responsible for some of our greatest fashion moments of 2022, and Anitta’s most recent red carpet appearance is confirmation that the trend is here to stay. The “Envolver” singer showed up at the American Music Awards on November 20 wearing a bespoke Mugler outfit with sparkling butt cutouts. Six silver cuff bracelets and an exquisite set of rings from Tiffany & Co. were used by stylist Ron Hartleben to accessorise her appearance. Additionally, Anitta wore her hair back in a controversial “wet flip bun,” which highlighted her dazzling chandelier earrings.
The Grammy-nominated singer gave a look at her outfit before entering the stage at the awards presentation, capturing the lights of the camera flashes on every bead and piece of sequin. Thousands of tiny white beads were sewed into the transparent base of the floor-length gown to give the appearance of a long-sleeved crop top with a curled hem. The dress dipped at the belly, creating an inverted M shape that looped around and rounded at the base of her neck.
The dress changed into a flowing black skirt with elaborate beading and sequin details just below the tattoo-baring mesh cutout. The actress turned to face the cameras with her hand on her hip, displaying two butt cutouts that curved outward from her hip and ended just above her thigh. Anitta’s outfit could be our favourite cutout trend yet, even if celebs like Halle Bailey have made it a staple in our own wardrobes.
