Future Allegedly References Gunna’s Death
In a particularly striking line, Future raps, “You done took a plea on my slime. Won’t be surprised if you ended up dead.” The term “slime” is widely understood to refer to Young Thug, but the latter part of the lyric raises eyebrows, suggesting Gunna could face dire consequences. This is arguably the most explicit diss from Future in recent memory; even in the first verse and chorus of “Like That,” which stirred up considerable buzz in 2024, his words were less direct. This shift points to Future’s growing frustration with Gunna, if these lyrics indeed target him.
Future has consistently expressed his loyalty to Young Thug. In a 2020 interview with Apple Music, he elaborated on their bond, stating, “That’s my twin. There’s me and then there’s him… When you mention Thug, you mention me. It’s like one.” Their collaborative effort on the 2017 album Super Slimey further cements this relationship. Notably, Future isn’t the only one close to Young Thug who has taken shots at Gunna; Young Thug’s children even shared a diss aimed at Gunna back in July, indicating that tensions run deep within their circle.
