This week’s #1 song on the new music chart is “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” by The Weeknd.

The epic melody that plays over the credits of the eagerly anticipated sequel Avatar: The Way of Water was chosen by music fans in a poll that was released on Billboard on Friday, Dec. 16.

The song “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” triumphed over brand-new tracks from artists including Rosala and Cardi B (“DESPECH RMX”), Juice WRLD (“Face 2 Face”), PinkPantheress (“Take Me Home”), FLO (“Losing You”), and others.
Gerard McCann’s “Cry Little Sister” from the 1987 cult hit The Lost Boys serves as the musical inspiration for “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)”.
He says on the song, which Swedish House Mafia co-wrote and co-produced, “I thought I could keep you from paying for my sins/ You give me strength/ I would do either way/ Nothing’s lost/ No more agony, just you.”

The Weeknd has previously co-written top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles from the film soundtracks of Fifty Shades of Grey (“Earned It”) and Black Panther (“Pray for Me”) with Kendrick Lamar.

Rosala’s remix of the MOTOMAMI smash “DESPECH” came in second place on the fan-voted poll, trailing only “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)”. Nearly 40% of people chose the Cardi B-assisted song.
