Pink Siifu has never stopped working. The Birmingham and Cincinnati-born rapper, vocalist, and producer gained notoriety throughout the 2010s as an underground rap chameleon by putting out more than 40 projects in that time. Early works like Black Food 1 and more recent collaborations with Real Bad Man display his irreverent rap style, which draws inspiration from the musicians he listened to growing up, like OutKast, Sun Ra, Sly and the Family Stone, and Lupe Fiasco.
Pink Siifu’s grit and distinctiveness are still evident today. He has five productions to his credit since the start of the decade, the most notable of which is the critically praised Gumbo’! He brings the album’s “Doin Tew Much,” his seductive whisper tone, and a green manicure to the bathroom setting. The song fits perfectly within the cloud rap style, which Pink Siifu has dominated for more than 10 years. It is foggy and laid-back.
