Taylor Swift appears to have thrown a subtle jab at Kanye West with a recent change to her track “thanK you aIMee” from her album The Tortured Poets Department. This modification comes after a long-standing feud between the two stars that began with the infamous interruption at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and continued through various public spats, including a notable diss on Kanye’s track “Famous” from The Life of Pablo.
The updated track, now stylized as “thank You aimEe,” features a new rendition of the song available for purchase on Swift’s website for $4.99. This version includes a live performance recorded in London. The change in spelling, with uppercase letters in “Kim” and “Ye” in the original track title, appears to be a nod to Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian and his own recent name change.
The alteration might also be a strategic move by Swift, given that her album is holding strong at the top of the Billboard Hot 200, even as Kanye’s latest project, VULTURES 2, fell short in its first week. The modified track seems to reflect Swift’s continued playfulness with her public image and her enduring rivalry with West.
What do you think about Taylor Swift’s updated spelling of “thanK you aIMee”? Do you believe it’s a deliberate dig at Kanye West following recent album sales?
