At the French premiere of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” on December 15 at La Cinematheque in Paris, Janelle Monáe wore a gothic look. The actress portrays Helen Brand in the brand-new mystery movie, which debuted in theatres on November 23 and will be streamed on Netflix on December 23.

Monáe donned a matching velvet high-waisted split skirt with a black long-sleeve turtleneck shirt. The two items were both part of Alexandre Vauthier’s fall 2022 couture collection, which was influenced by the gothic movement and the 1980s.
Monáe chose a variety of silver-toned rings and dangling earrings as her accessories. In order to highlight her stunning makeup, which included a smokey eye and deep purple lip, the “I Like That” singer had her honey blond hair pulled up in a high bun with a side-swept bang laying on her face.
With a pair of black knee-high Stuart Weitzman boots, the actress finished the look. The central line of the sleeve met the ruched design of the pointed-toe heels, which cascaded all the way up the sleeve. The nearly 4-inch-tall stiletto heel of the satin boots gave the ensemble height. The designer’s Stuart line includes the shoes.

Alexandra Mandelkorn, a stylist who has also created outfits for Rachel Brosnahan, Christina Ricci, and Jurnee Smollett, dressed Monáe.
Monáe is renowned for bringing theatrical ensembles to important events. On the red carpet, she has been spotted wearing everything from giant headpieces to tattered knit sweaters. For her eye-catching designs, the actress frequently collaborates with upscale companies like Christian Siriano, Robert Wun, and Thom Browne. She typically lounges around in Oxford loafers, Converse, or L.A.M.B. sneakers when she isn’t sporting a remarkable outfit for an occasion.
