Plies is making his political stance clear, and he’s not holding back. In a recent Instagram Live session, the rapper threw his support behind Kamala Harris and urged voters, particularly older white men, to set aside their reservations and vote for the Democratic nominee.
On July 24, Plies took to social media to address the ongoing debate about America’s readiness for a Black female president. With characteristic candor, he dismissed the notion as irrelevant, emphasizing that the real question is whether the voters themselves are ready for a change. “It ain’t about if muthafckin America there yet. It’s about if we muthafckin there yet,” he declared.
Plies highlighted the longstanding support that women of color have given to white male candidates, pointing out that it’s time for that support to be reciprocated. “All these muthafckin years a woman was able to vote for a muthafckin man,” he said. “Especially a woman of color was able to vote for a white man.”
The rapper was particularly critical of those who remain hesitant to support Harris. “Now all of a sudden it’s a muthafckin problem for a white man to vote for a sista,” he argued. “What kind of sht is that? If that’s the case, the sista ain’t the muthafckin problem. It’s muthafckin him.”
Plies didn’t stop there. He continued his political discourse on Twitter, taking aim at former President Donald Trump and his criminal record. “U shouldn’t be questioning nobody about nothing,” Plies asserted.
Though Plies’ music might not always reflect his political views, his support for Barack Obama in the past and his track record of political statements suggest that his advocacy for Kamala Harris is likely to continue. Fans might even see more from Plies in the form of new music related to Harris’ campaign.
