On Thursday, August 29, Big Sean took to Complex’s elevator bank in New York City to deliver a fresh freestyle over a Hit-Boy-produced beat.

Interestingly, while many anticipated Big Sean to weigh in on the ongoing rap rivalry of 2024, including his contemporaries Drake and Kendrick Lamar, he seems more focused on personal growth and artistic expression. Recently, Big Sean humorously imitated Drake’s “duck face” selfies online, but he has largely avoided engaging in the social media drama surrounding the rap scene.
It’s inspiring to witness Big Sean channel his personal struggles and insecurities into his music. During a recent emotional IG Live session, he shared, “When you make art, you put your heart into this st. When I had COVID last week, I was down. I was still working on the album. When I last dropped an album, it was COVID. I was excited to plan my release party, I was excited to do all of that. [My mother] was giving me them words. And I was just like, look, I can keep working on some st and make it exactly how I wanted. But I’d be pushing it back forever.”
As Big Sean continues his impressive run, fans are left wondering if this prolific streak will sustain or if he has already reached the pinnacle of his 2024 achievements.
