The first presidential grandchild to get married at the White House is Naomi Biden.


On Saturday, November 19, Naomi Biden, the eldest grandchild of President Joe Biden, will wed Peter Neal on the South Lawn of the White House.

According to the Library of Congress, the Biden-Neal nuptials will mark the 19th such gathering held at the White House and the first to take place there since 2013.

The Library of Congress reports that on March 29, 1812, the White House hosted its first official wedding.
First lady Dolley Madison’s sister, Lucy Payne Washington, was the bride, and Thomas Todd, an associate justice of the Supreme Court, was the groom.
The location of the wedding is unknown, but according to the Library of Congress website, it was “likely in the Blue Room” on the State Floor.
According to the website, weddings at the time were typically small affairs that took place in homes.
After moving into the White House after the consumption-related death of her first husband, George Steptoe Washington, Lucy Payne Washington met Todd.
