PRINCESS DIANA WORE THE CLASSIC LADY DIOR, BRINGED BACK BY DIOR

a launch of a restricted quantity.

In honour of Princess Diana and her influence on the fashion industry, Dior is reissuing a classic Lady Dior handbag style that was first carried by Lady Di.

After being gifted to Lady Di in September 1995 when she travelled to Paris for the inauguration of a Paul Cézanne retrospective exhibition at the Grand Palais, the little handbag first made an appearance in 1996 at the Met Gala. The handbag, which was unofficially called ChouChou at the time, became so well-known thanks to the fashion icon that Lady Diana was eventually given its name. Diana was thereafter regularly spotted carrying the purse to various functions. Marion Cotillard, who took over as the Lady Dior’s face in 2008 under John Galliano, has been linked to the bag throughout the years. One of Dior’s most recognisable designs, it had its own exhibition, “Lady Dior As Seen By,” which travelled to cities throughout the globe, from Berlin to Hong Kong.

The replica silhouette is delivered with the signature Dior Cannage stitching, Dior charms dangling from the handles, and its original strass and blue satin trim. The handbag’s iconic shape has been reinvented in a number of hues and sizes ever since Lady Di made it popular, and it has since become the brand’s hallmark and best-selling bag. Throughout her time with the company, Maria Grazia Chiuri changed the silhouette, giving rise to the Lady Di-Lite and Lady D-Joy with fresh designs, embroidery, and more.
