Nicki Minaj Praises Eve’s “Groundbreaking” Revelations About Their Time Together on Barbershop

Nicki Minaj has shown her admiration for fellow rapper Eve after Eve made candid admissions in her new memoir, Who’s That Girl, about their experience working together on Barbershop: The Next Cut. On Sunday, Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to Eve’s reflections, calling the revelations “groundbreaking” and expressing deep appreciation for Eve’s honesty and transparency.

In the memoir, Eve admits that working alongside Minaj on the 2016 film gave her a new level of respect for the rap star, particularly because of how Minaj handled the pressures and challenges on set. Minaj, in turn, was touched by Eve’s words, highlighting Eve’s grace and self-awareness.

“The level of grace; the level of emotional & spiritual maturity it takes to be this vulnerable & transparent is a sign of TRUE peace, happiness, fulfillment, & mastery of self,” Minaj wrote. She continued to praise Eve’s personal growth and the value of self-reflection, adding that accountability is “the sexiest trait a person can have.”

Minaj also revealed how nervous she had been working alongside Eve, admitting that she feared Eve didn’t like her. “I was so nervous coming onto that movie set every day,” Minaj confessed. “You looked like a pro & I admired that so much. Thank you for trying to not do to me what was done to you.”

Minaj went on to reflect on the pressure women in the industry face to compete with each other, noting that they often have more in common than they realize. Despite her initial nerves, Minaj shared that she felt a deep connection with Eve, stating: “I swear, I KNEW that YOU could tell deep down inside that I really liked YOU. So you went easy on me.”

Minaj’s heartfelt tribute to Eve highlights the importance of mutual respect, support, and understanding among women in the entertainment industry—a powerful message for both artists and fans alike.
