Co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Miller of Good Morning America In the wake of their connection becoming known last week, Holmes have reportedly been removed from the air, according to TMZ.
Kim Goodwin, president of ABC, made the decision to terminate the hosts’ broadcasts on Monday during an editorial call, according to sources at the network. Days after it was revealed that the two wouldn’t face any disciplinary action over their highly publicised romance, she referred to the spotlight on the couple as a “internal and external distraction.”
Although the relationship is not against corporate policy, Goodwin allegedly addressed ABC colleagues, “I want to emphasise that while that relationship is not against company policy, I have really taken the last several days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organisation.” “This is something… we’re not going to talk about on this call until there is more to be said,” Goodwin said. “I’m asking that we stop the whispering in the hallways. You know, we can’t operate with gossip, and speculation, and rumours. We need to stay focused on the work.” If any ABC staff members feel there is “something that management needs to know,” they should speak with HR or talk to a manager, she added.
Photos of them holding hands in upstate New York were released last week along with the first reports. They both deleted their Instagram accounts, albeit none of them has publicly commented on the matter. Whereas Holmes is wed to an attorney named Marilee Fiebig, Robach is still wedded to actor Andrew Shue. Both of them are said to have ended their relationships with their partners in August. As early as last year, according to sources, there were rumours of an affair.
The couple seemed to be making fun of the media interest in their relationship during their final on-air appearance last week. It’s a shame it’s Friday, you know. It’s been a fantastic week,” the 45-year-old Holmes jokingly said, drawing a chuckle from his co-host. “I just want this one to keep going and going and continuing. Enjoy it, please! Take it all in,” Robach said, 49, “Speak for yourself, I am extremely thrilled about the weekend—and I’m sure everyone else is too. We all love our Fridays around here, at least some of us do.
