Kendrick Lamar Fires More Shots at Drake in Mysterious New Track

Aubrey Graham, better known as Drake, can’t seem to catch a break in 2024, especially from Kendrick Lamar. In a stunning return, Lamar dropped a new untitled track on Instagram on September 11, reviving his long-standing feud with the Canadian rapper. While Drake’s name isn’t directly mentioned, the lyrics unmistakably target him, delivering a fresh wave of sharp, unfiltered disses.

The track opens with a chilling line: “I think it’s time to watch the party die,” a callback to Lamar’s 2017 diss track “Meet the Grahams.” Here, Lamar aims at Drake’s reign over the industry, implying that it’s time to end his dominance. Lamar wastes no time in the next lines, criticizing the Toronto rapper’s involvement of personal matters in their feud. “This sh*t done got too wicked to apologize… get him whacked and disqualified,” Lamar raps, questioning Drake’s right to be considered one of rap’s all-time greats.

In a broader sense, Kendrick isn’t just taking aim at Drake but at the industry itself. He criticizes the state of the rap game for allowing Drake to rise to such prominence. “Why argue with these clowns if the circus is well at work,” Lamar muses, frustrated with the current landscape. His new track, in many ways, is an indictment of the system that elevated Drake, suggesting the party is over for both.

Throughout the track, Lamar continues to reference Drake’s own lyrics and past, including a pointed nod to “Star67” and questioning Drake’s self-proclaimed status as a “general,” a title Drake mentioned in “The Heart Part 6.” Lamar’s cutting bars show that he has much more to say, and this mysterious release only intensifies their ongoing rivalry.

Stay tuned as the hip-hop world eagerly waits to see how Drake responds to this latest lyrical assault.
