The gospel choir that serenaded guests upstairs was one of the two main attractions at the annual Claridge’s Christmas Tree unveiling on Wednesday night, which saw the rich and famous of London tapping across the hotel’s famous marble checkerboard floor. Sandra Choi was there to promote Jimmy Choos’s “Diamond” tree, which was the reason for the event.
In a black ruffled spectacular that commanded attention, former Tatler cover queen Golda Rosheuvel looked as regal as her Bridgerton alter ego, while Emilia Boateng, ever stylish and just off the cover of the Little Black Book issue, struck the correct note in cropped tailoring.
Among the well-heeled visitors who posed for pictures inside the dazzling tree, a sculptural marvel of 69 shimmering mirrors, wreathed in sparkling lights, were Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer, who had both appeared in Tatler (although the centrepiece was almost out-blinged by The Flag Twins). The Marchioness of Bath channelled a joyous angel in a champagne gown by Sabina Bilenko, while Lady Mary Charteris put on a daring performance in a transparent, strappy party dress that she expertly twirled.
Guests mingled and hailed the beginning of a hectic party season while enjoying champagne under the light of the 5-meter-tall lit tree. Others crept upstairs to enjoy the view while being serenaded by Olivia Dean and The Basenote Collective, a gospel choir, with their attention directed to the dazzling tree that will undoubtedly leave others in the dark.
